Salome is a rarely seen artwork of film history adapted from the controversial Oscar Wilde play. Made in 1923, Salome loosely follows the bibical story of King Herod and his desire for his young step daughter. This production brings together a screening of the 1923 silent film with a live performance of the new score specially written for the film by Charlie Barber.
Sound Affairs offers an inquisitive audience the chance to enter the world of contemporary music and cross art forms in an accessible and professionally presented format. The company have been successfully touring cross art form original works for over 20 years. The organisation was founded by artistic Director Charlier Barber, an internationally known composer.
The music is performed by four percussionists, playing from two giant alloy towers places on either side of the screen. The use of the towers adds a real theatrical and dramatic twist to the evening. It will be quite the spectacle – something quite different from the usual night out at the movies.
