Gare St Lazare, Ireland’s most travelled theatre company, make their fifth visit to the Watergate Theatre with a unique performance of Samuel Beckett’s short story The End performed by Irish actor Conor Lovett, considered by many to be the definitive Beckett performer. The End is a gritty account of the last days of an old mans life as he struggles to live despite his willingness to die. Evicted from an institution of care he stoically fends for himself in a state somewhere between his dreams and reality.

Beckett masterfully balances the tragedy with perfectly pitched comedy. Lovett and director Judy Hegarty Lovett have a built a reputation for their arresting presentations of Beckett’s prose on stage and have toured all over Ireland and to over 65 cities around the world.

“This is wondrous acting” Sunday Independent

“Comedy, sly and biting, all the sharper for seeming to come out of hiding…Masterful” Irish Times
